A little bit about us
Owner Maxine Holland
Maxine Holland is originally from the beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, where she grew up surrounded by stunning vineyards that sparked her lifelong love of wine. With a passion for travel and exceptional customer service, she brings a unique blend of skills and experiences to her wine bar.
Holding a WSET Level 2 certification, Maxine has deepened her appreciation for the world of wine. While her background is in graphic design, she has always felt a strong pull toward the food and beverage industry. This passion has inspired her to create a welcoming space where people can enjoy good company, great meals, and, of course, fantastic wine.
When she’s not immersed in the nuances of wine or tending to her customers, Maxine can be found lost in a good book or exploring new destinations with her husband, their adventurous 12-year-old son, and their two wonderful dogs, Remi and Bandit.
A positive and passionate person, Maxine believes in the power of connection—laughter is truly the best medicine! She knows that every challenge can be met with a delicious meal and a glass of wine, and she looks forward to sharing this journey with everyone at her wine bar.
Cari Schmitt
Since I was a young child I had always loved to “host” my family and friends. If anyone wanted to sit down at my tea party they knew the conversation would always be about how I loved having them there and how I was going to make sure this was the best experience ever. Fast forward to my adult career and my 22+ years in hospitality I still searched for my dream. The dream to be able to immerse myself in the wine culture each and every day.
Starting out in the Food and Beverage world was only to help pay for college. I had wanted to become a teacher, but once I got bitten by the F&B bug I fell in love with the industry. In 2006 I took a Food and Wine pairing class at the local college and that was it for me, my eyes were opened so much for my future. Since then I have taken countless classes, seminars, and certifications in wine education.
